After returning home to KwaZulu Natal after working in the skincare industry for 12 years, Lexi Rutherfoord settled in the small town of Ubombo, nestled atop the Lebombo Mountain Range, in northern KZN.
It was here that she established Alex & Thatch, where beautiful, hand-stitched leather goods, made from the highest quality leather are created.

Combining both her creative design skills and love of working with her hands, the range comprises natural, earthy colours and brightly coloured suede linings, creating an artisanal, luxury leather brand, with a good dose of fun. As Alex & Thatch has grown, she has passed on her skills to people in the local community, helping to create employment opportunities in this impoverished area.

Alex & Thatch creates enviro-conscious ranges, as well as bespoke leather products with individual charm. Each stitch is placed entirely by hand and every piece is made from leather of the highest quality.
